The Light Between
I spent many early mornings walking around Sentosa, observing how the light filtered through the trees and changed the landscape. But there was something especially peaceful about sitting in this particular spot, watching the sunlight cast shadows across the sand. To my left, a monitor lizard nested beneath a rock, while to my right, a soccer match unfolded. It felt like the perfect example of people and nature quietly coexisting, each going about their own lives while sharing the same space.

About the photographer
My name is Vanessa, I studied fine arts in Australia and now call Singapore home. What I loved most about this photography competition was how it encouraged me to get out and explore Sentosa, where I live, searching for new perspectives and observing how the landscape changes with the light at different times of the day. I’m constantly inspired by the lush greenery, tropical plants and wildlife here, which are such a beautiful contrast to the landscapes and nature I grew up with in Australia.
