On the Edge of Life – A Sudden Encounter on a Deadly Track
While walking along the railway tracks through Junona forest, a vital wildlife corridor connecting several tiger habitats, we noticed fresh pugmarks and heard alarm calls from langurs and chital, signalling a nearby predator. Ahead, an unsuspecting man continued walking despite my desperate warnings. Moments later, a tiger emerged onto the tracks, bringing him face to face with danger. A forest guard shouted, briefly distracting the tiger and allowing the man to escape. The tiger calmly crossed the railway line and disappeared into the forest. This encounter highlights the fragile balance between human safety, wildlife survival, and railway infrastructure.
