Minimalist Mystery

Earth In Focus Photography CompetitionCreative

While photographing wildlife near Bhigwan, Pune, during winter, I spotted a chameleon moving slowly along an Indian Gum Arabic tree. Experimenting with backlighting, I captured an unexpected moment when a spider landed on its dorsal crest, creating the illusion of a glowing, spiked pathway beneath its feet. The interplay of light and shadow transformed this encounter into a captivating scene. Yet behind its beauty lies a troubling reality. Chameleons face increasing threats from habitat loss, climate change, and illegal wildlife trade. This photograph celebrates their extraordinary beauty while reminding us of the urgent need to protect these vulnerable creatures.
