In a Sea of Snow
In February 2024, I visited Yellowstone National Park to experience the area’s winter landscape. Temperatures were bitterly cold, snow was plentiful, and not all parts of the park were accessible by car. I therefore rented a snowmobile to explore the central area; it was a freezing day (-37°C), but I was rewarded by an encounter with this coyote, completely immersed in a sea of snow. Strong winds had sculpted the snow into the shape of small waves. Although the coyote was actually hunting for prey beneath the surface, it looked as though it were navigating a sea of snow.

About the photographer
I live in north-west Italy and I am a veterinarian specializing in small animal oncology and surgery. In 2014, I began traveling to some of the most pristine natural environments on the planet, starting with South Africa and subsequently visiting other sub-Saharan African countries. In 2019, I moved to South Africa and completed a field guide training course, all while further developing my passion for wildlife photography. Since 2021, I have traveled the globe in search of unspoiled landscapes and elusive or endangered species to capture in my photographs. My ultimate goal is to share the beauty of the natural world with others and to highlight what we risk losing if we fail to protect it.
