Icy Sunrise
Along the Dalton Highway, between Fairbanks and Coldfoot, Alaska: For only a few moments each morning where temperatures fluctuated from -16℉ to -39℉, sunlight filters through the snow-covered forest, transforming an otherwise monochrome landscape into a tapestry of light, shadow, and color. The image celebrates the quiet beauty found in winter’s simplest moments.

About the photographer
Amber is a photographer who loves being out in nature, seeking unique compositions that tell stories and capture emotions. Sometimes that means waiting for clouds to change, fog to pass, or a humpback whale to move its fin. Her passion for landscape and wildlife photography began 15 years ago during an underwater whale-watching trip with her husband. What started with a simple GoPro has evolved into a full-frame camera and underwater housing. Over the years, Amber has planned her travels around the animals she hopes to photograph, researching where and when to find them. All her images capture wildlife in natural habitats, never captivity.
