The First Breath The Last Trap
Since 2018, I have documented Olive Ridley sea turtles along Rushikulya’s coast in Odisha, India, capturing their mass nesting, mating behaviour, and hatchlings’ journeys to the sea. Over time, my photography has evolved into conservation storytelling, highlighting threats from predators, artificial lighting, habitat disturbance, and discarded fishing gear. This image captures a vulnerable hatchling entangled in ghost nets before reaching the ocean, transforming its first journey into a struggle for survival. A powerful reminder of the devastating impact of marine pollution, it raises an urgent question about our responsibility to protect these fragile creatures and their future.
